Christian TShirts Enhancing Or Distracting From Faith

Some Christian musicians, as well as parents of teens and pre-teens, consider the image that is presented by Christian bands to be as important as their music. The general idea is to present solid Christian values in a wholesome way, to both attract young fans and help them strengthen their faith. For this purpose, many parents try to discourage their children from having too much interest in or exposure to bands that have a negative or unwholesome image, and sway them toward those who are more positive. Their preferences in attire are a large part of this image.

Many also prefer Christian bands whose emphasis is on celebrating Jesus rather than basking in the light of their own fame. As the main point of Christian music is to share one's faith with the audience, it's not surprising that fans who are already of the Christian faith are often put off by bands whose attire does not reflect this priority. Even when their song lyrics are clearly prioritized, apparel that does not coincide with it distracts from their primary purpose.

Some parents go as far as to dislike their children listening to Christian bands whose appearance does not reflect Christian values as they dislike them admiring secular bands and singers. When the slogans on t-shirts, in an attempt to be humorous or modern, border on the offensive, many parents are unwilling to allow their children to listen to these artists regardless of the Christian nature of their music.

Christian bands who present this type of image with the t-shirts they choose to wear lose many potential audiences simply due to this issue. In addition to parents' objections, many Christians who have a much more conservative outlook can be “turned off” from these bands without even having the chance to listen to their music, solely based on how they are dressed. While the old saying “don't judge a book by its cover” may make sense in general, parents and conservatives alike do place significant importance on appearance.
