Christian TShirts Favored By The Bands And Musicians

Brian Vander Ark believes that Christian music should gain a more modern, “hip” angle to better spread its popularity. He has remarked that some of the more controversial Christian t-shirts from years past were not nearly as negative as some considered them to be. Although many conservative Christians, both young and old alike, would likely find serious issue with this point of view as well as with the actual t-shirts, perhaps it truly does broaden the range of appeal to where each and every person, regardless of who they are, can realize one of the greatest truths: that the Lord is for everyone, and everyone can bring Him into their lives.

The design Vander Ark was specifically referring to was one which read “Jesus is my home-boy.” Upon further research, the company which still makes this design also has one which reads “Mary is my home-girl” for the young ladies. While Christian musician Zach Neilsen has stated his opposition to these types of t-shirt designs, perhaps they do indeed have their place in helping youngsters from all backgrounds to know that God's love includes them all. Such “hip” terminology does not weaken faith, it can strengthen it for youngsters who might otherwise believe they are excluded.

The majority of Christian band members dress in a manner which is most appealing to their own specific audiences. Vander Ark obviously knows there are plenty of fans and potential fans who will feel more comfortable with a “hip” image. Neilsen's opinion, however, is that such a t-shirt shows its wearer in a negative light, and is not giving the right message at all.

Today's Christian music ranges from gospel to Christian rock to a nearly-limitless scope of artists and styles in-between. There is an equally-large range of fans. There are young, elderly, and middle-aged fans; people from all parts of the United States love this music. Consequently, it should come as no surprise that the Christian musicians themselves have differing views on what types of Christian t-shirts are appropriate and which styles give the best message to their fans.

But while none of these artists should wear styles of clothing which compromise their own personal standards, perhaps the best way to look at the subject is that the entire purpose is to get the message across, and if that message is to include everyone who listens to the music it is best if the language-style is geared to include as much of their audiences as possible. If done in a tasteful manner, there can be many varieties of t-shirt styles so everyone can hear the message.
