Giving to Missions Helps Children

There are many instances where lack of proper footwear and winter clothing keeps children away from school. Lack of medicine or health clinics keep children sick and unable to learn. Lack of a school is a problem in some areas. Here in America, we tend to shut-out the problems we aren’t there in person to see.

There are problems children face daily in Russia, China, Guatemala, and Africa (to name a few) that would make us cringe in horror and become nauseous. For many people, out of sight is out of mind. But to overlook the problems children face in other parts of the world is a mistake. These children may grow up, hardened and dangerous, because of neglect. They are the future, if they are able to make it to the future. Not to mention the humanitarian aspect that we are here to help each other.

One mission that has been known to help children is the Teen Missions, International. Youth from as young as age four can be trained in the appropriate age groups to learn about world needs and be our missionaries of the present and future. Besides what they can learn to do for others, they learn valuable lessons to enhance their own character. Teamwork, the Bible, drama, survival skills, and music are some of the wonderful lessons the children are taught. There are specialty classes on choir, clowning, motorcycles, film, backpacking, and more. The skills and memories stay with the children throughout their lives to help them understand and relate to the world’s poverty areas and how they can make a difference for future generations. Sometimes it takes young missionaries to reach other children their age or younger.

Children of war lose their clothing, shelter, food, entire families, and sense of security. They lose friends, relatives, and become severely injured physically. They must endure nightmares and fear that we hope our own children never have to experience. Could you imagine a tiny 5 year old boy walking down the street, stumbling and bleeding with nowhere to go and no one to care for him?

War is a part of our world that has its place and will always be a threat. But we must also deal effectively with the after-effects. This is where missions can step in and help children who are damaged by the wars.

Money to sponsor teaching the children who are to become our future missionaries is a dire need for some. Missions need donations to cover advertising costs, materials for projects, housing, and more.
