Giving to Missions Makes a Difference

In our world today, just the idea of giving to missions can bring a groan. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of charitable Christian organizations ‘on a mission’ to help impoverished families, towns, other countries, the ill, the jobless, the homeless, and other struggling churches.

There are many American people who just become overwhelmed by requests for donations, so they choose not to donate at all. So, how can one make a difference, how do we choose, and why does it matter anyway?

First of all, it is true that no one person could possibly donate to every mission. One person may only be able to donate to one mission. Every legitimate mission has an important goal or goals; so no matter which one you choose to help, you’re on the right track. Every mission is able to make a difference in some way; and each and every one is needed. Our world can’t be changed overnight unless it is the will of God. But every little step we take, every time we join together with others in some way to help, every dollar donated is a positive change.

The world relies on people pulling together. In many ways, society in general is selfish. There are more people who seem to grow up looking out for only themselves. Financial status really has nothing to do with it. Although street kids who live a rough life will get fingers pointed at them for being self-absorbed, there are plenty of people who are pampered an spoiled and only think of themselves. Missions have brought people together from both ends of the financial spectrum. Attitudes have been improved along with lifestyle choices and mistakes.

It takes every cent possible to make a difference. Giving to missions takes a widespread effort. It helps the world in more ways than one can see on the surface.

Someone with a willing heart and the time to help may lack the resources or knowledge. Someone with the proper skills may lack the transportation. Missions can help pull these people together to make a great mission team. The donations help make this possible.

Donating to missions can make a difference in the life of the giver as well as the life of the receiver. Choosing a mission that speaks to your heart is one way to clear up your own spiritual confusion. Sometimes all a person needs is to feel they have a purpose.
