How to wear Christian clothes to work and be seen positively

Even if your company is not wholly Christian, or outwardly dislikes members of our faith, you can still proudly wear that Christian clothing to work and not suffer for it. Yes you are risking quite a bit by walking into an environment that may be hostile to Christianity with such a blatant announcement of your faith, but there are ways to protect yourself from discrimination, and do it with tact.

Put it in writing

Let your bosses know that you intend on wearing Christian clothing to work, and see if they have any objections to the idea. Store all communications relating to this in a safe place, just in case you find yourself in a legal dispute over your Christian attire.

Take note of your superiors' body language and seek out any detail that might indicate a particular dislike for Christians. Although religious discrimination is against the law, most people still find themselves held back just because of their religious beliefs.

You need to do everything you can to protect yourself from such action. God can't do everything for you. However, He did give you the ability to exercise due diligence and look out for yourself. Use the gifts He has given you.

Do some quiet research

Ask around the office if anyone particularly dislikes Christians, and see if you can't find out why. The course of action from there depends on your feel of the situation, but it is recommended that you speak to your superiors about them before talking to those individuals face to face.

Broach the topic carefully – they might be hostile to your prodding. Don't seek to convert them, or anyone at work for that matter. Just ask if they would be offended by discreet and tactful Christian clothing a couple days a week, and let them know you are perfectly willing to agree to disagree when it comes to religious matters.

Choose tactful Christian clothes

There are definitely some pretty gaudy Christian clothes on the market. Do your best to pick shirts for work that have small insignias or artwork that can be appreciated by all kinds of people, not just Christians. Phrases that are universally true, such as “Love Thy Neighbor” are good choices also.

However, try to stay away from Christian specific phrases, such as those forsaking all other golden idols. Those are fighting words. You need to be considerate and understanding of others' religious beliefs in your workplace.
