How to wear Christian clothing around non-Christian friends tactfully-1
It's no secret that your friends might be a bit uneasy about Christian clothes, especially the ones which have only had poor experiences with Christians trying to convert them or whatever else. If you're worried what your friends will think about your Christian clothes, there are things you can to do help them feel more at ease.
Obviously, you shouldn't do exactly what they fear, and open your mouth up right away about God and His teachings. So many Christians just bombard people with absolutely no regard as to whether or not they are actually interested. Although, you also shouldn't feel like you have to tiptoe around your friends either. You absolutely should be proud of your path, but that doesn't mean you can be inconsiderate of everyone else's choices.
A good idea when wearing Christian clothes around non-Christian friends, is to wait until they start asking questions. Otherwise, you will just play right into their fears. It's unfortunate that Christian clothes are not as widely accepted as vulgar band t-shirts, but maybe you can change that. Maybe you can change a lot of things, actually.
Use universally accepted concepts
Everyone appreciates a generous person, and while Christianity is not immediately associated with generosity throughout all of society, don't forget that purchasing Christian clothing here helps missionaries around the world to help others. You could wear something that plays up the charity and generosity aspect of your Christian clothes, rather than the faith side of things.
Some Christian phrases are also universally accepted, such as “Love Thy Neighbor.” If you are concerned about your friends' thoughts, try to stay away from Christian clothes that specifically talk about God. Instead, stick to His teachings – it's a great way to spread the word.
Opt for vague, aesthetic, and inconspicuous
If you're not a fan of wearing words, you could simply pick Christian clothes with beautiful artwork or small insignias. Try to keep with concepts and ideas that are once again universally accepted, or at least too vague to be obviously Christian. Christian clothing with depictions of Saints or other prominent figures might not be a good idea.
Instead, you could go with a plain t-shirt that simply has the fish logo. Alternatively, you could also select Christian clothes with a very ornate version of common symbols. Strangely enough, tattoo style artwork seems to work best at appealing to the largest possible audience.
