Huge benefits of sending your kids to school in Christian clothes

Let's face it – the Bible is a great big book, and your kids just can't be bothered to read it most of the time. Between their friends and that all important homework, they just don't have the time to read and learn the Word of God. So how do you encourage them to read it, without being too pushy?

I wouldn't exactly call it being sneaky, but there is a great way around that by encouraging your children to wear Christian clothes to school. Not only does it serve as a reminder of their faith, but wearing Christian clothes to school may cause conversations with their peers that encourage your children to pick up the good book.

Getting on the topic of God

Remember, your children go to school to learn what the school has to teach them, and so are the other children. Remind your kids they are not to be a great big loudspeaker for Christianity at school, but if someone asks about their Christian clothing or their faith, then they should feel free to open up a conversation.

The greatest benefit to these kinds of talks with their peers is they will often be unable to answer all their questions. When your kids come home from school on a day they have worn Christian clothing, they'll either ask you the question directly – or even better, ask you for the Bible so they can look it up themselves.

Of course, don't forget to tell your children a portion of the price for that shirt went to a missionary to help people around the world. This gives your children an excellent opportunity to tell their peers about the loving generosity that all Christians share, and what good we try to do for all of God's children – even if only through the purchase of Christian clothing.

Picking the perfect Christian clothes

Probably the most difficult part is figuring out which Christian shirts would work best for this purpose. Keep in mind your kids want to be “cool” so try to find shirts that have beautiful artwork, interesting symbols, or universally true statements, such as “Love Thy Neighbor.” Sometimes it's better to pick up more obscure Christian clothing, because those tend to provoke the most questions.

Another great idea is to bring your kids into the process. Let them point out Christian clothes that make them ask questions, and once you've sated their curious minds, they can wear the shirt to school and answer their peers' questions. Wearing Christian clothes to school is a winning situation for everyone.
