I Am Not Afraid
If you are a devoted Christian and testifier, the title of this article might make sense to you; then again, it might not. After all, who ever heard of wearing someone to Jesus? Is that even possible? You know you’re supposed to bring them to Jesus, but you can’t wear a person…can you?
As a matter of fact you can. As a child of God you cloak yourself in the Lord jesus Christ and his love and blood every day of your life. Do you show this in your daily actionis? Certainly! After all, when you handed your life over to Jesus didn’t he say that you should sit back and have faith in him, that he would lead your life in the direction that it was meant to go? You have faith in Jesus, enough to trust him to guide you through the decisions you make on a daily basis. The question is, do you have enough faith in him to allow him to decorate the clothes you wear?
Ah, now that question is a little harder…particularly if you happen to be a fashion conscious teen living in today’s fashion conscious world. Unfortunately, the cross is not considered to be the height of fashion. It’s all about how well a shirt can fit or how short a skirt can go before it becomes indecent. Yet if you refuse to allow Jesus into this corner of your life you are essentially refusing to hand over control of your life to him-the one thing that he asks all of his disciples to do when they come to eat at his table.
In addition to the fact that you are rejecting Jesus, you are leading other people to reject him to. If a non-Christian sees you paying more homage to pop culture than you do to the Lord, what is that going to tell them? It’s going to tell them that you are all talk and no action. You need to reflect the Lord Jesus Christ in everything you do if you are going to lead the uneducated to stand at his hand when it comes time for Judgement Day, and this includes the clothes that you wear.
Consider this. Anyone who has ever studied fashion knows that the way a person dresses reflects how they feel on the inside. It shows the world who they are and what they believe, and the way that they dress should fill them with the confidence they need to go out and accomplish the things in life they want t accomplish. For a Christian, this can mean showing their faith in the Lord through their clothing and accessories, and showing everyone that they do believe they can wear people to Jesus.
