Office talk about your Christian clothing
When the kids leave school, where do they go? The work force, of course. So it's no wonder that your co-workers haven't grown out of that gossiping phase. If you wear Christian clothing to work, word will definitely spread around the office – and not necessarily God's Word either.
This can be good or very bad, depending on whether your workplace is Christian friendly or not, and when you choose to wear Christian clothing. Obviously if you commit a social crime, such as wearing Christian clothes on Hanukkah, or an even worse and completely unrelated holiday, you will probably never live it down. It's not exactly fair, but you will definitely get treated differently just because of your faith.
Bad news first
In a workplace that isn't Christian friendly, at best you can expect your co-workers to nervously glance at your Christian clothes. They're waiting for you to do what every other Christian they have known did to them – preach about God, and try to convert them, despite obvious disinterest. Of course, they'll also watch your every move, and maybe even bet on how long it will be before you start trying to convert the office.
At worst, you may end up shunned by your co-workers, and discriminated against when a higher up position opens up. Yes this is illegal, but it is nevertheless common practice. If you suspect that you're the target of discrimination just for wearing Christian clothing, speak to an attorney right away, and keep logs of everything you observe with regards to the situation.
But the good news is...
If your workplace is Christian friendly, or your boss is Christian too, your Christian clothes will announce to them your devout dedication to God and His teachings. You may get special projects that nobody else has access to, or get an exceptionally good recommendation if you should leave the company.
While both sides of the coin to wearing Christian clothes to work are very unfair to everyone involved, it's not your fault that so many Christians have made a bad name for the rest of us. Although, it might be a good idea to turn down special treatment just for being Christian. All people at least try to be good, you're just a bit more devout than some.
Don't let the possibility of ridicule or discrimination stop you from wearing Christian clothes to work. Worship God however you see fit – everyone else is just being immature.
