Pasta Supper
Everyone loves spaghetti, right? Most people love one kind of pasta or another. When you find such a universally appealing substance, lights should be going off in your head. You’re looking for the next great Christian missions fundraising idea, and pasta is just the ticket to get you the carbs you need for the mission field. Oh, you’re saying you need money to fund the mission trip first? Well a spaghetti dinner a.k.a. pasta supper is just the thing to get you off to a good start.
First things first, you need to enlist the best cooks you know. If that includes you, that’s great. If not, seek out those talented individuals that God has gifted to temp our taste buds. These people will make or break your pasta supper, and determine whether or not this will be a fundraiser you can do again on a future date. Once you’ve got your cooks recruited, you need a place to have the dinner. Most churches have some sort of fellowship hall where you can host the dinner. Pick a couple of different types of pasta for the cooks to prepare, as well as garlic bread and appetizers. A simple dessert should also be prepared for the menu.
Next, put together a flyer with all the details, including the asking price per plate at the supper. A unique twist that you can add to this concept is to provide delivery service to shut-ins and the elderly who might not come out for such an event. In this way, you can maximize the appeal to everyone who would like to support your Christian fundraising for missions.
Give away as many fliers as you can! Parking lots at shopping malls, local business offices and bulletin boards, church members and friends and relatives – all are great for getting the word out about your fundraiser. One note to consider: be sure and include a number on the flyer for them to RSVP. This way you can keep tabs on how many people are expected to show up, so you don’t run out of food! That could become a tragedy that would be hard to recover from.
The big night comes and everything is ready to go. Be sure and enlist the help of your mission workers, as they will be the ones promoting the hardest for the money needed. Use them in the dining room to service the patrons, as well as behind the scenes to clean up afterwards. Don’t forget to have at least one person on stand-by for delivery driver as well. A lot of people would like to support a good cause, but just can’t get out. After all, meals-on-wheels programs around the country have been making people happy with home delivered meals for years. Once you complete a successful Christian missions fundraiser such as the pasta supper, it’s only a matter of duplicating the effort again over a period of time to raise the money you need for your group.
