Reaching Out to a Lost World with Christian Clothing
Salvation is the ultimate message behind everything we do as Christians. Our Great Commission that has been given to us by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for the time we are here on earth is to win souls and to make disciples. We are asked to be the hands and feet and heart for Jesus as we lead a world from darkness to light. While we know we are to do all of this and we know how good God is, there are times when we might find ourselves needing some assistance in reaching out to a lost world.
In a time when people are bombarded with messages of the world’s way of living, you too can speak your own message of faith using Christian clothing, in a way that is assertive but not forceful. Many people just don’t respond well to being told what to do and that the way they are living their lives are not as blessed as it seems to be. That doesn’t mean that we should shrink back with the message of the Gospel, but rather, we should understand where their hearts are and take on the role of an encourager to bring their hearts closer to God.
The Christian clothing we wear is an immediate first impression and an immediate first connection. When someone is led to Christ, God has already been working in their hearts. Many times, the message of your clothing is the barrier breaker of the walls that surround their heart and when the word of the Lord comes, the healing is instantaneous. They receive the Lord with their heart; not because they were pushed into it.
Let your Christian clothing speak the message for you! There are ways to communicate a message without a single word ever leaving your lips. People view your shirt and a seed of the word of God gets implanted in their hearts. Maybe the first time you wear your shirt, not much may seem like is happening, but after several wears, the message becomes a part of their minds. They start to ask questions about your faith. They start to know that God is speaking to their hearts and a door to salvation that they can walk through is opened.
For some people, the subtlety of your message makes all the difference in the way they perceive and react to what is being presented to them. Not everyone walks through the same door in the same way. Not everyone responds well to outright boldness because it’s too scary for them to do. Our objective is to reach the lost in gentleness, humility and love. While our hearts may be on fire for God, the words that might come out of our mouth may be too harsh for the unbeliever to receive. Use Christian clothing as a subtle way to reach out to those around you without ever speaking a word!
