What will your friends think if you wear Christian clothing
You absolutely should be proud of your faith – there is no questioning that. However, some of your non-Christian friends might be offended if you wear Christian clothing around them. How can that be? God's love is the best thing that's ever happened to you! Can't they see that?
Unfortunately, no. Most people today are so wrapped up in their own lives and their own fears to even consider why you might be wearing Christian clothing. While you shouldn't let that stop you, it might be helpful to understand their fears so you can address them, and help your friends feel at ease.
Their fears and your Christian clothing
While some of your friends may be perfectly comfortable with your Christian clothing, others might find themselves questioning your supposed fanaticism by wearing one. In light of the 9/11 attacks, many people are afraid of people who might be remotely considered a religious fanatic. They don't care or care to know about the differences between Christians and the people who committed those awful atrocities. All they know is all religious fanatics are dangerous.
Additionally, most people don't want to get into a religious debate. They would rather just leave well enough alone, and agree to disagree. However, most Christians will take up almost any opportunity to convert someone, pushing beyond that person's comfort zone, and ignoring all signs they wish to end the conversation.
If you're wearing Christian clothing around your friends, they might be wondering the entire time when you're going to start talking about God. How can you tell? What can you do to help them feel more at ease?
Getting them to be more comfortable
If your friend keeps glancing at your Christian clothing, and then quickly looks way, they are definitely uncomfortable with you wearing it. They might not be sure it's Christian clothing, and they're trying to figure that out without prompting you to talk about it.
Just simply say, “It's okay to look” with a friendly smile, and “if you don't want to talk about religion, that's okay with me.” Although, more often than not, that might actually get them talking about religion! At the very least, they might talk about the shirt. Especially if you have selected Christian clothing with particularly interesting artwork.
